Established in 2008, HELP has been a beacon of hope, providing life-changing experiences to young adults by offering invaluable real-world exposure to diverse job sites and exciting career opportunities.

Through firsthand experiences and mentorship, HELP ignites the spark of ambition within these young individuals, instilling in them the confidence to pursue their dreams and achieve meaningful futures. HELP embarks on transformative journeys with at-risk youths, offering eye-opening trips to diverse workplaces, where they can explore and experience a multitude of careers firsthand. Guided by HELP’s motto, "How can you find the job of your dreams if you don't even know it exists?". HELP is driven to breaking down barriers and bridging the gap, providing invaluable access to information that has the potential to transform lives.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, HELP depends on generous contributions and grants to fund essential expenses, including transportation, food, equipment, and other necessities required to provide hundreds of young individuals with firsthand experiences at the various work sites they visit.

Through collaborations with local organizations, vocational training centers, and educational institutions, HELP diligently creates pathways for these youths to acquire the vital skills and qualifications necessary for future employment.

By empowering these future leaders with practical knowledge and firsthand opportunities, HELP prepares these young individuals for success in the workforce, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to build a promising future.

Through the On-Site Career Mentoring program, HELP works with students dealing with school attendance and behavioral issues, students with specific mental or physical challenges, and at-risk young adults in the juvenile justice center.

At-Risk Young Adults

The program aims to find the youths the right mentor who can guide and support them in achieving their career aspirations. HELP's impact is evident through the considerable number of students they have assisted – over 4,500 kids have been taken to more than one hundred work sites, while more than one hundred disabled youth have found custom-tailored jobs.

HELP collaborates with the Nueces County Juvenile Justice system, the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, and various schools to provide future leaders with first-hand knowledge and experience in potential career paths. The impact of HELP's work is felt throughout the community, with countless young individuals expressing their gratitude for the opportunities and guidance they received, and for the brighter future they now have.

The passion and dedication of HELP's founder, Dr. Ridge Hammons, who once served as a teacher and administrator for 15 years, fueled the organization's commitment to making a lasting difference in young people's lives. By putting kids where the opportunity is, HELP goes beyond traditional educational approaches, offering shared experiences of successful work by industry experts who are willing to impart their expertise.
